Food delivery drivers

Every food delivery driver in Gibraltar must hold a Delivery Driver Card. You apply for it online, on the Delivery Driver Registration website.

Apply for a Delivery Driver Card

Before you apply

Your employer must register your job with the Department of Employment. Every application is checked against Department of Employment records, and no card is issued to a driver who is not properly registered.

The company you name in your application must be the company you are registered with. If you are not sure, check with your employer before you apply.

What you need

  • an email address you can check straight away: you sign in with a code sent by email, and there is no password
  • your phone number, home address and date of birth
  • your Gibraltar ID card or Spanish DNI, with clear photos of the front and back
  • the name of the company you deliver for
  • for a Green card, your driving licence or CBT certificate

Photos and documents can be JPEG, PNG or PDF, up to 10 MB each.

Red card or Green card

  • Red card: you do not have a CBT certificate, learner's licence or driving licence. You cannot use a motor vehicle for deliveries.
  • Green card: you have a CBT certificate, learner's licence or driving licence. You can use a motor vehicle you are licensed to drive.

After you apply

Customer Care Hub staff check your application and your employment registration. If anything needs correcting, you will be asked to amend your application. You will be told when your card is ready to collect from the Customer Care Hub, 323 Main Street.

Sign in to the website at any time to see how your application is going.

While you are working

Every food delivery driver must, while working:

  • hold a valid Delivery Driver Card, and display it and their driver number on their uniform where people can see them
  • wear a marked uniform with the branding of the company they work for
  • use a marked delivery box with that company's branding

A card is valid until the next 1 April. Apply again to renew it.

Fines

Drivers who do not comply can be given a £300 fixed penalty notice. The rules are enforced by the Royal Gibraltar Police and Transport Inspectors.

Until 1 December 2026 there is an amnesty on the card requirement only, to give drivers time to apply. The uniform, the delivery box and every other requirement are enforced now.
