Youth Arts Jamboree: Pupils visit the City Hall and engage with Mayor’s Open Day - 176/2026

March 17, 2026

Around 340 Gibraltar pupils attended the Mayor’s Open Day as part of the Youth Arts Jamboree Programme organised by Gibraltar Cultural Services on behalf of the Ministry for Culture. The City Hall was a buzz of activity over a two-day period with young people engaging both with the building and the artworks.

The initiative offered students a unique opportunity to meet His Worship the Mayor, Nicholas Guerrero, whilst learning about the important civic role of the Mayor within the community. His Worship answered questions and shared his knowledge.

Pupils from St Anne’s School, Notre Dame School, Prior Park School, and Bishop Fitzgerald School attended the sessions, which were tailored to suit different age groups. Through interactive and age-appropriate materials, students gained insight into the history and function of City Hall, as well as the traditions and responsibilities associated with the mayoralty.

As part of the visit, pupils also toured the Mario Finlayson National Art Gallery, where they were introduced to Gibraltar’s artistic heritage and the importance of preserving cultural spaces for future generations.

The Open Day, organised directly with local schools, forms part of Gibraltar Cultural Services’ ongoing commitment to engaging young people with Gibraltar’s civic and cultural institutions through meaningful, educational experiences.

The Youth Arts Jamboree Programme continues to provide opportunities for pupils to connect with the community, fostering a deeper understanding of Gibraltar’s culture, history, and the arts.
