Youth Arts Jamboree 2026 – Engaging with the Arts - 242/2026

April 02, 2026

Around 2,000 students and young people have taken part in Gibraltar’s vibrant arts and cultural scene over the past two months through the Youth Arts Jamboree 2026, delivered by Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS).

The initiative has provided Gibraltar’s younger generation with the opportunity to feel inspired, learn about local artists, develop new creative skills, and engage more deeply with the Rock’s rich history and cultural heritage.

The programme featured a series of guided tours showcasing Gibraltar’s Street Art, the Mario Finlayson National Gallery, GEMA (Gibraltar Exhibitions of Modern Art), and the John Mackintosh Hall Library.

Participants also enjoyed a diverse range of hands-on sessions, including workshops in Teddy Bear Repair Workshop, lighting and photography session, a technical theatre workshop, workshops by the Photographic Society, and capoeira classes. In addition, GCS worked closely with local youth organisations such as the Gibraltar Youth Service and the Rainbows and Scouts, as well as the ensuring the programme reached a broad cross-section of the community.

World Book Day also formed part of the Jamboree which saw over 400 students visit the John Mackintosh Hall to discover the world of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’. Workshops and storytelling took place to encourage students to engage with the text and promote reading for pleasure, with a public storytelling event by GAMPA juniors proving extremely popular too.

The Youth Arts Jamboree continues to highlight GCS’s commitment to nurturing creativity, celebrating local talent, and making arts and culture accessible to young people across Gibraltar.
