Youth Arts Jamboree 2026 - 34/2026

January 22, 2026

Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministry for Culture, announces the 2026 Youth Arts Jamboree programme, taking place throughout February and March. The Jamboree aims to provide insights and opportunities in the arts while inspiring young people to engage with and participate in Gibraltar’s cultural sector.

This year’s programme includes gallery and street art tours, cultural competitions, a Mayoral Open Day, World Book Day celebrations, literary, music and dance events, and a wide range of interactive workshops. New for 2026 is a Youth Saturday in Town, bringing together young performers alongside the GFA Playmakers programme.

The Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, Christian Santos GMD MP, said:
“I am a firm supporter of events that celebrate and promote the arts, particularly those aimed at inspiring young people. I am confident this year’s Jamboree will be as popular as in previous years.”

The programme includes the Christopher Lloyd Britannica Competition for students aged 8 to 14; art tours at the GEMA Gallery at Montagu Bastion and street art tours in Gibraltar’s city centre; visits to the library and the Mario Finlayson National Gallery; and a Mayor’s City Hall Open Day hosted by His Worship the Mayor, Nicholas Guerrero, and Deputy Mayor Andrea Simpson.

World Book Day 2026 will be held at the John Mackintosh Hall on Thursday 5 March, themed around Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan, with workshops, storytelling sessions and public events.

Other highlights include a light painting photography workshop, teddy repair workshop, light and sound workshop, the launch of a poetry collection by young writer Sheridan Povedano, and a new Yanito Community Project celebrating Gibraltar’s bilingual language.

Youth Saturday on 21 February will feature performances across Main Street and Casemates Square, including DJ Nihal, Waves, GAMPA, the 1st / 4th Scouts Band, the Musicians Association of Gibraltar and the GFA Playmakers programme delivered by the Gibraltar Football Association.

The programme also includes the Gibraltar Festival for Young Musicians, the Gibraltar International Dance Festival at the John Mackintosh Hall Theatre, and the Sovereign Young Artist Competition, with the finalist exhibition hosted at the Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery.
