‘Visit Gibraltar’ has made the shortlist for the second year running in the prestigious travel industry ‘Globe Awards’ announced this week at the World Travel Market.

Listed in the category for Best Tourist Board, Gibraltar is listed alongside Barbados Tourism Marketing, Destination Canada, Greek National Tourist Office, Jamaica Tourist Board, Portuguese National Tourist Office, Spanish Tourist Office, Tourism Australia, Visit Florida and Visit Malta.

The Globes are the pinnacle of UK travel industry awards, hosted by media title Travel Weekly, and this year commemorating the 50th anniversary edition.

A short period of voting will now begin and winners will be announced in London in January.

As is traditional, the awards will honour suppliers ranging from tour operators and airlines to cruise lines, destinations and ancillary providers. The awards are highly coveted, voted for directly by industry and travel agents.

Special awards will also be presented to individuals and brands, including the Outstanding Achievement and Unsung Hero categories and those honouring commitment to sustainability, inclusivity and staff wellbeing and development.

Reacting to the news of the nomination, the Minister for Tourism, the Hon Christian Santos GMD MP, said: “Knowing frontline sellers decide which suppliers make it on to the shortlist makes this nomination heartfelt. Gibraltar remains a valued brand in the UK travel industry and earning recognition from travel agents in what has been a challenging year is something to be acknowledged.”
