The Gibraltar Tourist Board, under the Ministry for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, is launching ‘Discover Our People’, a roaming photographic exhibition created with Gibraltarian photographer Stephen Hermida.
The exhibition celebrates the people who make Gibraltar unique, bringing together portraits and personal stories from individuals across the community. Through their experiences and perspectives, the exhibition offers an intimate glimpse into the many cultures, backgrounds, ethnicities and beliefs that shape Gibraltar’s identity.
More than a collection of photographs, Discover Our People is a celebration of Gibraltar’s diversity and the shared sense of belonging that connects its people. It invites residents and visitors alike to look beyond the familiar faces they encounter every day and discover the individual stories that contribute to Gibraltar’s rich cultural tapestry.
The exhibition has been developed in collaboration with Gibraltarian photographer Stephen Hermida, whose passion for portraiture and storytelling has taken him to communities around the world. For this project, Stephen turns his lens towards home, capturing the personalities, experiences and individuality of the people who make up Gibraltar’s community.
Designed as a roaming exhibition, Discover Our People will be displayed in prominent public spaces, making the photographs and stories accessible to the wider community and visitors to Gibraltar.
The exhibition will be on display at the following locations:
The Gibraltar Tourist Board invites members of the public and visitors to explore the exhibition and discover the faces and stories that reflect the true spirit of Gibraltar.
Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, the Hon. Christian Santos GMD MP, commented:
“Gibraltar’s greatest strength has always been its people. Our community is shaped by a wonderful mix of cultures, backgrounds and traditions, all of which contribute to the unique identity of our home.
“Discover Our People is an opportunity to celebrate that diversity and, importantly, the individuals and personal stories behind it. Through Stephen Hermida’s photography, we are reminded that every person has a story worth sharing and that it is these stories, together, that make Gibraltar what it is today.
“I am delighted that this exhibition will be brought directly into our public spaces, allowing both residents and visitors to appreciate the richness of our community and discover another side of Gibraltar."
