Vacancy for Firefighter – Gibraltar Fire & Rescue Service

 

  1. The Government of Gibraltar invites applications for the post of Firefighter at the Gibraltar Fire & Rescue Service. Applicants must, by virtue of their citizenship, be entitled to take up employment in Gibraltar and are, or on employment will be, resident in Gibraltar.

 

  1. The salary scale for post of Firefighter is; £28,153; £29,322; £37,520.

 

  1. 3. Applicants must meet the requirements as outlined in the Job and Person Specification.

 

  1. Candidates will be required to undergo a selection process which is broken down into three phases as per below:

 

Phase 1 – Fitness Test 

Location – Lathbury Barracks Stadium

Date – Friday 19 July 2024

Time – 1900 hrs

 

Those who successfully complete the tasks undertaken during Phase 1 will then proceed to Phase 2 of the selection.

 

Phase 2 – Practical Elements

Location – Gibraltar Fire & Rescue Service

Date – Saturday 20 July 2024

Time – 0730 hrs

 

Those who successfully complete the tasks undertaken during Phase 2 will then proceed to Phase 3 of the selection.

 

Phase 3 – Interviews for the post of Firefighter

Location – Department of Personnel and Development, Unit 82-86 Harbours Walk, The New Harbours, Rosia Road, Gibraltar

Date & Time – Interviews are envisaged to be held during the week commencing Monday 29 July 2024. Those who successfully complete Phases 1 and 2 will be informed of their interview time and date.

 

  1. Further details of the selection days are available at www.gibfire.gi/recruitment. Please ensure you familiarise yourselves with this information and come properly dressed to ensure you can undertake the tasks required.

 

  1. The successful candidates from phase 3 will be required to undergo training in the United Kingdom in accordance with their offer of employment. This will entail the use of Fire & Rescue Service appliances and equipment, Search and Rescue Operations, Road Traffic Collision Operations Emergency Medical Response, prior to being posted to shift work. This training will be carried out at the Fire Service College. The course lasts approximately 8 weeks and is envisaged to commence on Monday 30 September 2024.

  1. Application and vetting forms along with copies of qualification certificates and copy of ID/Passport should be submitted to the Department of Personnel and Development via email to recruitment@gibraltar.gov.gi by no later than Wednesday 10 July 2024.
