Vacancies for Customs Officer – HM Customs

  1. The Government of Gibraltar invites applications for the post of Customs Officer in HM Customs from members of the public who hold the right of abode in Gibraltar (i.e. in possession of a Gibraltar red ID card).
  2. Applicants must possess the following:

    • Five GCSE passes or an equivalent or higher qualification at grades A, B or C or 9–4, three of which must be in English Language, Mathematics and Spanish.
    • Valid ‘B’ class driving licence (copy to be provided).
  3. The salary will be payable at the rate of £26,900 on the salary scale ranging from £26,900 to £37,846.
  4. Applicants will be required to undergo a selection process as outlined below:

    Phase 1 – Theory and Practical Assessments

    Location – Bayside School
    Date – Saturday 16 May 2026
    Time – 09.00 to 14.00 approx.

    Please come appropriately dressed to ensure you can undertake the tasks required.

    Those applicants who successfully complete Phase 1 will be invited to attend Phase 2 of the selection process.

    Phase 2 – Interviews for the post of Customs Officer

    Location – Department of Personnel and Development, 82–86 New Harbours, Rosia Road, Gibraltar
    Date & Time – Interviews are envisaged to be held during the weeks commencing Tuesday 26 May 2026 and Monday 1 June 2026.

  5. Application forms together with a Job and Person Specification stating the essential requirements for the role can be obtained from the Government of Gibraltar website at gibraltar.gov.gi/new/press-releases. Further particulars may be obtained from HM Customs on telephone 20078879 or by email at hmcustoms@hmcustoms.gov.gi.
  6. Application forms along with a coloured copy of the ID card, copies of qualification certificates and reference letters must be submitted to the Department of Personnel & Development via email to CustomsOfficer.recruitment@gibraltar.gov.gi no later than Friday 24 April 2026.
  7. Should you not receive an automated reply from the above-mentioned email address within two working days after submitting your application form and documents, please contact the Department of Personnel and Development on +350 20071911 Ext. 2.
  8. Additionally, completed Royal Gibraltar Police vetting forms, copy of identification and proof of address must be submitted with your application form by the closing date. For clarification on the RGP’s requirements regarding acceptable documents, please refer to ‘Section 4 – Proof of Identity’ within the vetting form.
  9. Please note that you will be required to provide all relevant original certificates stated in your application form on the day of your interview.
