VACANCY FOR A SHORT TERM NON-PERMANENT APPOINTMENT TO THE POST OF SCHOOL COUNSELLOR, IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

The Government of Gibraltar invites applications for a short term non-permanent appointment for the post of School Counsellor, in the Department of Education from members of the public who hold the right of abode in Gibraltar (i.e. in possession of a Gibraltar Red ID Card).

Duration of Fixed Term Contract: One Year

Salary: £33,055 per annum (pro-rata).

The Department of Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counsellor to provide a high-quality counselling service to children and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional problems. This role is pivotal in supporting the mental, social, and emotional wellbeing of our pupils and the wider school community. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with a team of professionals across lower and upper primary as well as secondary schools, and the Gibraltar College, possibly on a rotational basis as deemed appropriate to meet the needs of our pupils.

Our schools are dedicated to providing an inclusive and supportive environment where every pupil can thrive emotionally, socially and academically. We are looking for a qualified and experienced counsellor (minimum Diploma in Counselling), registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or equivalent, who is passionate about supporting young people. The ability to communicate effectively; to demonstrate empathy; and to work both autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team; are essential qualities that will be considered carefully during the selection process.
