Vacancies for Customs Officer

The Government of Gibraltar invites applications for the post of Customs Officer in HM Customs.  Applicants must, by virtue of their citizenship, be entitled to take up employment in Gibraltar and are, or on employment will be, resident in Gibraltar.

 

  1. Applicants must possess:

 

  • 5 GCSE or GCE ‘O’ Level passes at grades A, B, or C, 5 CSE grade 1, or 5 CEE grades 1, 2 or 3 or a combination of these, three of which must be English Language, Mathematics and Spanish, or

 

  • A full GNVQ (intermediate), BTEC (intermediate) or BTEC (First Diploma), OCR National (Level II award), NVQ (Level II award) together with 3 GCSE or GCE ‘O’ Level passes at grades A, B or C, 3 CSE grade 1 or, 3 CEE grades 1, 2 or 3, or a combination of these, which must include English language, Mathematics and Spanish.

 

  • If not in possession of a Spanish GCSE or equivalent, a commitment to obtain such qualification during the probationary year.

 

  1. Applicants should also possess a valid ‘B’ class driving licence. If not in possession of a valid ‘B’ class driving licence, a commitment to obtain such licence during the probationary year.

 

  1. The salary scale for the post ranges from £21,570 to £34,954 per annum. Successful applicants will enter at the minimum point of £21,570 and will progress annually on the scale.

 

  1. Applicants will be required to attend a one day selection programme, after which, those shortlisted will be interviewed for the post.

 

  1. A comprehensive induction programme and access to continuous development opportunities in pursuance of a career within HM Customs will be provided.
