The Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) has entered into a contractual agreement with the Hospiten Group, an international network of private hospitals. The signing of this agreement follows months of diligent work and negotiations conducted by the Ministry of Health, Care and Justice and the GHA with a number of tertiary groups. In March 2019, the GHA also signed contractual agreements with two other highly renowned tertiary healthcare companies.  

The Hospiten Group, which is chaired by Dr. Pedro Luis Cobiella, is an international healthcare network with 50 years of experience and committed to providing high quality medical service. The Group has twenty, private medical centres in Spain, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Panama and over one hundred walk-in clinics under the ‘Clinic Assist’ brand. The Hospiten Group have well-established medical centres in Estepona and Algeciras, both in close proximity to Gibraltar. In total, the Group has 1,200 beds, attends to over 1.7 million patients and employs over 5,000 people.

Significantly, the agreement with Hospiten Group provides our clinicians with yet another option for tertiary referrals to specialised centers in Spain. I am very pleased to report these hugely positive and welcome outcomes, which have come as a result of months of meticulous work carried out by my excellent teams at the GHA and my Ministry, which, I am confident, will benefit our entire community.”
