The Ministry of Transport would like to set out the new drop-off arrangements for children attending the temporary extension to St Martin’s School located at the old Strength Factory site on Glacis Road.

The arrangements will only be in place during term time and will not be in effect on weekends, bank holidays, in-service days and other instances when children do not attend the school.

10 parking spaces close to the entrance to the school within Glacis Estate have been allocated for this purpose. During the following times, vehicles will not be allowed to park and have a maximum of 10 minutes to drop off students:

• 8:00am to 9:15am
• 11:45am to 1:15pm
• 2:45pm to 3:15pm

Permitted vehicles can park outside of these times. Similar arrangements are in place by several other schools.

The extension will cater for around 45 children at the newly refurbished premises which will house the Early Birds Nursery during the 2025/26 academic year as an extension of St Martin’s School. Some of the children have mobility issues, hence the requirement for such parking arrangements close by, in order to ensure their safety.

Both the Ministry of Transport and the Department of Education wish to thank the public, in particular residents of Glacis, for their understanding for the inconvenience this may cause.
