A bowling delegation from Special Olympics Gibraltar will participate at the Special Olympics Switzerland National Games that will take place in Zug, Switzerland from the 28th to 31st May.
Wishing the team well the Minister for Sport, the Hon Leslie Bruzon, has highlighted the attendance.
“It is great to see that in the same way that SO Gibraltar invites other countries from the Special Olympics family to our own Summer National Games that our athletes are also getting the chance to represent Gibraltar at the equivalent events away from home. I have seen our bowlers in action on many occasions and have no doubt that they will once again rise to the challenge and, as per their motto, they will at least be brave in the attempt. Good luck to all players and coaches.
"I also want to congratulate the recent performance by our Bocce players in the Small Nations Bocce Tournament held in Liechtenstein at the end of April. Amongst the excellent performances in this event were the Bronze medals secured by Marvin and Dorian Zammit, silver medals claimed by Francis Avellano and Miguel Rubio and the Gold medal success enjoyed by Julian de las Heras and Frederick Barker all in their respective decisions. Special mention also to Dominic Hemmi who partnered with an athlete from Luxembourg in the mixed country pairing. An excellent experience for him also”.
The bowling delegation, made up by Adam Stewart, Glen Wimbleton, John Joshua Buttigieg and Shane Martinez, will be led by Head of Delegation Michael Mauro and Head Coach Leslie Martinez.
