School Pupils Enjoy Action-Packed Fundraising Events with 5 in 5 - 369/2026

May 18, 2026

Pupils at St Joseph's Lower Primary school enjoyed two exciting days of fitness, teamwork and fundraising this week as the 5 in 5 team visited to lead the school’s Zoom and Vroom Bikeathon and Bloom and Zoom Run.

The events followed an earlier visit by the charity team, where Charles, Adrian and Keiron delivered an inspiring assembly to pupils about the work of the 5 in 5 team and the importance of staying fit, healthy and active while supporting the local community.

On Tuesday, Nursery and Reception children took part in the Zoom and Vroom Bikeathon, showing off their cycling and scooting skills around the school grounds. The children zoomed along to music in a fun-filled morning that left both pupils and organisers impressed by their enthusiasm and energy.

On Wednesday, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils headed to Alameda Gardens for the Bloom and Zoom Run. Working together as teams, the children completed two laps around the gardens while encouraging and supporting one another throughout the event. Pupils were cheered on by classmates holding handmade banners and posters created specially for the occasion, while the 5 in 5 team provided plenty of motivation and encouragement along the route.

The children were sponsored by family and friends, with funds raised being shared with the 5 in 5 charity to support their upcoming GBC Open Day activities. The remaining money raised will be used by the school to purchase additional PE equipment for pupils.

The children had an absolutely fantastic time across both events. It was wonderful to see such determination, teamwork and enthusiasm from all of our pupils. We are incredibly grateful to the 5 in 5 team for organising such memorable experiences and inspiring our children to lead active and healthy lifestyles.

The school would also like to thank all parents, carers and families for their continued support and generous sponsorship of the events.
