OS 35 Update - 155/2023

March 17, 2023

The extraction of cargo from the OS35 continues at a good pace with half of the cargo on board already removed. At close of activities on the 16th March, over 17,000 tonnes of cargo had been recovered, with just under 16,000 tonnes of cargo remaining to be extracted.

The semi-submersible FJORD, which will be used to remove and transport the OS35 wreck, departed from Rotterdam earlier this week and is expected to arrive in Gibraltar at the end of this month.

The Captain of the Port, John Ghio, said: “I am pleased with the progress the salvage teams are making in terms of cargo removal from the OS35. The fact the semi-submersible FJORD is on its way to Gibraltar is also very positive as this put us in a position to remove the wreckage as soon as we are physically able to do so without delays”.
