Notre Dame School Reflect on Book Week Celebrations - 192/2025

March 21, 2025

Book week is always an exciting time at Notre Dame Lower Primary, and this year's festivities included two initiatives which invited pupils from both St. Anne’s Upper Primary and Westside School to join in.

The week started with a lovely collaboration with St. Anne’s Upper Primary School.  For the second year running, children from different year groups came together for a book sharing activity.  Year 3 and Year 4 pupils from St Anne’s visited the Notre Dame library and read to children in Nursery and Reception classes. At the same time, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils from Notre Dame visited St. Anne’s library and shared books with pupils in Year 5 and Year 6. The care and patience of the older children was wonderful and the younger children were star struck!

Pupils assembled in the school hall wearing different costumes relating to their favourite book character. The assembly celebrated all the brilliant work and fantastic contributions by the children, and was jam packed with fun and prizes.

The week culminated with a visit from Year 8 pupils from Westside School. These pupils worked hard to create stories designed for Year 1 and Year 2’s Book Week theme of Unicorns, Dragons and Monsters. They read and performed their stories and came up with exciting activities which they then delivered. A polite, enthusiastic group who inspired the younger children, and helped make Book Week a success!
