No Parliament sitting in May due to building works and Speaker’s attendance at UK Overseas Territories Speakers Conference - 337/2026

May 11, 2026

HM Government of Gibraltar confirms that there will be no sitting of the Gibraltar Parliament this month. Parliament had been due to meet on 21 May 2026.

The decision has been taken in light of ongoing works to the Parliament building, particularly works affecting the lift, which are expected to be disruptive.

In addition, the Speaker of the Gibraltar Parliament, the Hon Judge Karen Ramagge Phillips GMH MP, will be attending the Commons and Overseas Territories Speakers Conference, and will be leaving on the 22nd of May 2026.

The annual conference brings together Speakers and Presiding Officers from the UK House of Commons and the UK Overseas Territories, with the aim of strengthening democratic governance and sharing best practice in parliamentary procedure.
