New and improved bus stops across Gibraltar - 215/2025

March 31, 2025

The Ministry of Transport is pleased to announce improvements to several bus stops across Gibraltar.

  • Europa Point - This is a new bus stop and replaces the two which were in the area previously. It brings the bus shelter closer to the University and the residential area which will be useful in adverse weather.
  • Lower Castle Road - This is a new bus stop created at the request of residents of Moorish Castle Estate and the Upper Town.
  • Hassan Centenary Terraces - This bus stop now has a shelter, once again to afford protection from inclement weather.
  • Schomberg - This stop has been enhanced as the pavement has been widened.

With Gibraltar's demographic continuing to evolve, the Ministry of Transport continues to review and enhance the bus network in line with this evolution.

As Europa Point becomes an ever more used location for sports, recreation and the University, the new bus stop will make travelling to and from easier.

Hassan Centenary Terraces is now home to many young families and with more expected to move into their new homes soon, this bus stop is the first of several initiatives planned for the area.

Lower Castle Road was requested by the residents in the areas and falls in line with the Ministry's policy on listening and acting where possible on feedback and requests from the public.

Schomberg is within the densely populated South District and improvements were made to the area to make is safer and more accessible to those that wish to walk and use the bus.

Minister for Transport, John Cortes, said: “We are slowly transforming our public transport system. These are small steps but collectively will improve the serve for many users. There is more to come”.
