Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, is delighted to confirm another headliner and a further six authors who will be participating in the Gibunco Gibraltar Literary Festival 2025.
As a main attraction we will see the return of David Walliams OBE. Comedian, author, presenter and actor David Walliams has been one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers since the ‘90s. His works include Little Britain, which won him three BAFTA awards, Come Fly with Me, Britain’s Got Talent, Stardust, Dinner for Schmucks, and Murder Mystery. He is also renowned for his extensive charity work alongside his acting and writing.
David returns to the Rock as a best-selling children’s author with his latest publications The World’s Worst Superheroes released earlier this year in May and Santa & Son to be released on the 23rd October 2025.
We are also pleased to announce a further line up of authors coming to Gibraltar for the Festival:
Dame Harriet Walter DBE – Award-winning British actress presents her latest book She Speaks!. Having lived and breathed Shakespeare, she knows The Bard's female characters more intimately than most. In She Speaks!, she delves between the lines of the plays to let these women finally speak their mind. She will be ‘In Conversation With’ Ben Lawrence, Arts correspondent at The Telegraph.
Valentine Low – Former Royal correspondent for The Times will examine how the relationship between the sovereign and the country's political leadership has changed over the last 200 years in his book Power and the Palace.
Dr Paul Cooper – Historian and host of the hit podcast Fall of Civilisations (200 million+ streams, 1.3M YouTube subscribers) brings the accompanying book, which explores how great civilizations rose and collapsed.
Janice Hallet – Former magazine editor, award-winning journalist and author, will present her mystery novels including her latest The Examiner and The Killer Question, the latter to be released this autumn.
Miguel Delaney – International bestseller and Football Book of the Year Award winner presents State of Play. The book explores how football has been used by the world’s elite, and how capitalism has reshaped the modern game.
Minister for Culture and Tourism, The Hon. Christian Santos GMD MP, said:
“The line up for the Festival just gets bigger and better. I am thrilled to welcome back David Walliams to the Rock. His ‘An Audience With…’ appearance back in April was a roaring success and I am delighted he will return to reach an even wider audience at the Festival.
Each author that is confirmed shows our commitment to a varied offering of the highest quality to appeal to all literary enthusiasts in Gibraltar. I know these announcements will be whetting the appetite of many ahead of the Festival this coming November.”
The festival will be held from 10th to 16th November 2025.
