'Mix Tracks, Not Substances’ campaign on dangers of mixing drugs - 909/2025

November 28, 2025

HMGoG has today launched a public awareness campaign highlighting the dangers of cocaine use. This campaign is a multi-agency one and stems from the work carried out by the Drug Advisory Council, chaired by the Hon Minister Santos, GMD MP.

The festive season sees an increase in cocaine use at social events and the campaign aims to inform the public on some potentially unknown dangers.

The main points of the, 'Mix Tracks, Not Substances' campaign are:

  • When cocaine is co-consumed with alcohol a new and potentially lethal substance called cocaethylene is formed. Cocaethylene significantly increases the chance of a heart attack and/or stroke.
  • Cocaine is usually mixed with other substances such as fentanyl, PCP, heroin, amphetamines and even rat poison.
