Following the success of the first cycle of the Skills for Care Apprenticeship, the Ministry of Employment and Ministry for Health and Care, in collaboration with the Care Agency, have launched a second cycle of the programme.

This initiative continues to open new pathways for Gibraltar residents aged 18 and over to build meaningful careers in the care sector. Participants will have the opportunity to earn while they learn, combining classroom-based training with hands-on experience in real care settings.

The first cycle, which is near completion, has seen 17 successful applicants undertaking training with the Care Agency. Feedback from both apprentices and the training team has highlighted the programme’s practical value, and its contribution to developing a skilled, compassionate workforce.

Minister for Health and Care, the Hon Gemma Arias Vasquez MP, said:
“The Skills for Care Apprenticeship is one of the most tangible examples of how we are investing in people to strengthen our Care services for the long term. The first cycle has already shown how much talent and dedication exists within our community. I am very pleased that we are now expanding this opportunity so that more people can develop meaningful careers while contributing to the care and wellbeing of others.”

“The success of the first cycle has demonstrated the value of investing in local talent and strengthening our care workforce. We are proud to continue offering pathways that combine professional growth with meaningful community service.”
