Minister Feetham Strengthens Gibraltar’s International Engagement During Visit to Canada - 613/2026

August 06, 2026

The Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry Nigel Feetham KC MP, has had a series of working sessions in Alberta, Canada, aimed at strengthening the relationship between both jurisdictions and exploring opportunities for closer cooperation across a number of innovative and fast-growing sectors.

During the visit, Minister Feetham met with Alberta’s Minister, the Honourable Dale Nally, together with senior government officials and regulators. The discussions focused on areas where both jurisdictions share common interests, including gaming licensing and market access, digital assets, and broader opportunities for regulatory collaboration and the exchange of expertise.

The meetings reflected the Government’s continued commitment to engaging internationally with jurisdictions that share its ambition to foster innovation through robust, proportionate and forward-looking regulation. As global markets continue to evolve, developing relationships internationally remains central to Gibraltar’s strategy of maintaining its competitiveness and reinforcing its reputation as a leading international financial and digital services centre.

Minister Feetham said: “International engagement is no longer an optional part of economic development, it is an essential one. Gibraltar must continue to build relationships with jurisdictions that share our commitment to innovation, high regulatory standards and economic growth.

“I was pleased to meet Minister Nally and his colleagues for a series of constructive discussions on issues where our jurisdictions can learn from one another. We explored practical opportunities to work more closely together on gaming regulation, digital assets and regulatory cooperation more broadly.

“I am grateful to Minister Nally and the Government of Alberta for the warm welcome extended. The openness and collaborative spirit shown throughout our discussions provides a strong foundation on which to build a lasting relationship that will benefit both jurisdictions through increased cooperation, investment and shared expertise.”

The Government remains committed to expanding Gibraltar’s international engagement, forging strategic partnerships that strengthen our economy, enhance our reputation for regulatory excellence and unlock new opportunities for investment, innovation and sustainable economic growth.
