Minister for Education John Cortes visited a number of schools this morning to join in the celebrations on World Book Day.

Teachers and children around all of our schools were participating in many different activities related to books, having fun while learning. Many books featured in this year’s event, including the classic Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland, the ever-present Harry Potter, and Cirque du Freak.

Minister Cortes said: “It was wonderful to see the pupils and staff enjoying books and learning across subjects at the same time. I wish I had been able to visit all of our schools, but I was impressed not just at the fun element, and at the costumes of those who chose to dress up, but at how well this day of fun was actually resulting in positive and creative learning.”
