Further to the comments made by the GSD earlier today, the Minister for Health, Care and Business, the Hon Gemma Arias-Vasquez has confirmed that the Government will make a detailed announcement on the Rooke Building next week.

A notice to media inviting them to a press conference next week was issued earlier this week, before the GSD issued any statement asking the Government for an update. Meetings with residents and their families, with staff and with the relevant trade unions have been diarised for some time. Those meetings will take place ahead of the public announcement, so that the people most directly affected hear the detail first.

Residents, their families and our staff will hear directly from the GHA Director General and I before anyone else, because that is the right order in which to do this, and it is why those meetings were arranged well in advance.
