Minister Arias-Vasquez publishes comprehensive Treaty FAQs for businesses - 474/2026

June 19, 2026

The Minister for Business, the Hon Gemma Arias-Vasquez, has today published a comprehensive set of Frequently Asked Questions designed to provide businesses, traders and relevant stakeholders with further practical information on the implementation of the UK-EU Treaty in respect of Gibraltar.

The publication fulfils the commitment made by Minister Arias-Vasquez during her address to the GFSB Annual Dinner earlier this week, when she confirmed that the FAQs would be published by the end of the week.

The FAQs consolidate the questions raised by businesses and stakeholders during the Government’s continuing engagement with the business community.

They address a wide range of matters, including transaction tax, customs duties, transit arrangements, bonded stock, product compliance and labelling, cross-border deliveries, duty-free operations, hospitality, employment, tourism, exports and port operations.

The document is intended to complement the technical guidance already published by the Government and provide clear and practical answers to the issues most frequently raised by businesses as they prepare for the implementation of the Treaty.

The FAQs are available at www.treaty.gov.gi and through the HM Government of Gibraltar website.

The Government will continue its programme of engagement with the GFSB, the Chamber of Commerce, individual businesses, traders and other relevant stakeholders.

Further sector-specific Town Hall meetings also be held on Monday to explain the technical guidance and provide businesses with an opportunity to raise questions directly with the Minister, the Attorney General, HM Customs and the relevant officials.

Minister Arias-Vasquez said: “At the GFSB Annual Dinner, I promised businesses that we would publish this extensive set of additional FAQs by the end of the week, and I am pleased that we have delivered on that commitment.

“These FAQs bring together the many detailed and technical questions that businesses have put to us. They provide practical information across a wide range of sectors and will help businesses understand how the new arrangements are expected to operate.

“I would like to thank the Attorney General, Michael Llamas, Daniel D’Amato, HM Customs and the wider team of officials who have worked extremely hard to prepare this detailed and important resource for Gibraltar’s business community.

“We will continue to listen, engage and provide businesses with the guidance and support they require as we move towards Treaty implementation.”
