MEDIATOR TO THE EMPLOYMENT TRIBUNAL

The Director of Employment invites applications from individuals with qualifications and experience who wish to sit as Mediators to the Employment Tribunal.

Applicants with suitable experience and accreditation will be appointed as Mediators for a term of 3 years and will be paid at a rate of £75 for each mediation session.

JOB PROFILE:

The aim of this role is to endeavour to promote a settlement between a claimant and a respondent, resolving their disputes by agreement (if possible) and within the strict time-limits provided for in the Employment Tribunal Rules.

To maintain a solid understanding and adherence to Employment legislation with specific regard to the Employment Act and its subsidiary legislation in all matters relating to the Employment Tribunal.

The main duties and responsibilities:

  • Correspond with the Tribunal and in the processing of documentation
  • Promote a settlement between the claimant and the respondent
  • Issuing of conciliation certificates when required
  • Conduct at all times in confidentiality and without prejudice to each of the parties
  • Effective management of caseload which may vary as requirements demand

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level with a relevant qualification
  • Experience and knowledge of employment law and practice
  • Available to work as to the requirements of each session.
