The Department of Immigration & Home Affairs (DIHA) is pleased to announce further enhancements to its online services with the introduction of an Online Booking Calendar for marriages and civil partnerships, which will go live next week on Monday 18th May 2026.
Gibraltar continues to be a popular destination for couples from around the world wishing to celebrate their wedding or civil partnership on the Rock. Until now, couples and local wedding planners were required to enquire about available dates by contacting the Department through a dedicated email address. Given the high demand for ceremonies in Gibraltar, this process often resulted in a significant volume of correspondence and multiple email exchanges before a date could be confirmed.
To streamline this process and further modernise its services, the Department has worked to develop a new online booking system. The platform will allow couples and authorised wedding planners to view available dates and times in real time and book their preferred ceremony slot directly online. The system will also provide information on available venues and the applicable fees.
Once a date is selected, applicants will be guided through the booking process and prompted to pay the relevant fees through a secure online payment link. Upon completion of payment, the system will automatically issue a confirmation email outlining the next steps required to finalise the ceremony.
Previously, dates booked from abroad were sometimes provisionally held without payment and in some instances, cancelled at short notice. The new system will require payment at the time of booking in order to secure a date. This approach will ensure a fairer and more transparent process, preventing dates from being held without commitment.
The introduction of the online calendar is expected to significantly improve the overall user experience by providing a more efficient and transparent booking process. It will also reduce the large volume of emails currently received by the marriages team to arrange dates and times.
The booking calendar will be accessible through www.gibraltar.gov.gi , under the DIHA marriages and civil partnership main section, which will provide users with a direct link to the new portal where couples and wedding planners can view availability and make their bookings. A direct link will also be available online under eGOV services.
The Director of the Department of Immigration & Home Affairs, Mr Karl Triay, stated: "This new system represents an important step in the modernisation of the Department’s marriage and civil partnership services. By introducing an online booking calendar, we are making it easier and quicker for couples and our local wedding planners to secure a date for their ceremony in Gibraltar, while also improving the efficiency of our own internal processes."
The Chief Secretary, Mr Glendon Martinez, added: "The Public Service continues to invest in digital solutions that improve the way public services are delivered. This new online booking platform will enhance the experience for users while enabling the Department to manage demand more effectively and continue providing a high-quality service."
