The Housing Department have allocated a flat to the family affected by this week’s fire at Mid Harbour Estate.
On the morning of the fire, Minister for Housing Pat Orfila together with Housing Department staff attended the scene to check that tenants in the immediate vicinity of the fire were safe and to inspect the flats in case they had suffered any damage that needed immediate attention. The Minister and her team spent some time with neighbours who were naturally moved and upset.
Minister Orfila and the Housing Department team will continue to monitor the situation and ensure that any latent damage that may have been caused by the fire is properly addressed.
The Housing Department would like to thank the charities who responded immediately, especially Generous Hearts for their generosity.
The Minister for Housing, the Hon Pat Orfila, said: ‘I’m pleased that we were able to act quickly to ensure that the family who lost their home were allocated another flat that was ready for them to move in to as soon as they were discharged from hospital. I’d like to thank everyone involved in responding to Tuesday morning’s devastating fire and its aftermath to minimise the damage and provide the best possible care to those affected.’
