The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo KC MP, has this morning expressed his condolences on the passing of Lord Douglas Hoyle, father to Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle.
Lord Douglas Hoyle was a staunch defender of Gibraltar and was granted Freedom of the City of Gibraltar in 2004.

The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo KC MP said: “I have written to Sir Lindsay Hoyle this morning to express my sincerest condolences on behalf of the people of Gibraltar. Lord Douglas Hoyle considered Gibraltar to be a place close to his heart. He was much loved here and will be missed.

We will remember him as someone who always defended Gibraltar’s best interests and wishes with dignity and passion. He was a lifelong friend. May he rest in peace”.
