On Thursday 22nd July 2021, Customs Enforcement Officers seized one locally registered vehicle and eight hundred cartons of cigarettes of various brands.

The incident took place in the early hours, at around 0245hrs, when Officers identified a locally registered private vehicle which appeared to be loaded with master cases of cigarettes at the New Harbour's Industrial Park. As the suspect vehicle maneuvered to exit the Harbour's Yard, the Officers challenged the driver, who quickly reversed the vehicle at speed and after gaining some distance from the Officers, alighted and made good his escape. The Officers searched the vehicle interior and found eight hundred cartons of cigarettes of various brands.
