It is not surprising to see the GSD defend the former Principal Auditor, whose heavily biased report includes policy recommendations outside of the ambit of an auditor's role and which singles out individuals for criticism based on their membership of the GSLP.

The defence of the former Principal Auditor by the GSD is, in fact, a perfect illustration of why the 2018/2019 report by Mr Tony Sacramento is so flawed and unreliable.

In fact, the GSD is seeking to defend the Report and the former Principal Auditor because the Report plays directly to its policy agenda and includes almost verbatim adoption of GSD policies and positions.

The reality, however, is that this discredits the Report and demonstrates that it is not an independent report but no more and no less than a hatchet job on the GSLP Liberal Government.

There is no other way to describe this report, and the Government is now taking advice in the extent to which it severely breaches the professional standards expected in respect of such reports.

The fact that the report has been presented as it has, in sensationalist, tabloid, style, is just one of the many failings of this erroneous, biased and unreliable report – all of which are matters the Government will not allow to go unsaid and unanalysed as a proper and detailed review, which will be made public in the coming weeks, will show.

Until then, the Government has no doubt that the GSD will continue to try to defend the indefensible, erroneous and biased findings of this report, as well as its nature, style and author, as these align strongly with the GSDs party-political interest.
