The Government notes the public statement issued on behalf of Mr Ian McGrail.

Mr McGrail can be assured that the Government’s position has not changed. It remains the Government’s clear intention that the Report of the McGrail Inquiry will be published in full, subject only to any redactions recommended by the Inquiry Chairman, Sir Peter Openshaw.

As previously stated, the Government will take legal advice prior to publication to ensure that all steps are taken properly and in accordance with the law, as has been the case throughout this process.

The Chief Minister, the Hon Fabian Picardo KC MP, said:

“The Government’s position is, and always has been, that the McGrail Inquiry Report will be published in full, save only for any redactions recommended by the Chairman. We will continue to act in full compliance with the law and on the basis of proper legal advice, just as we have done from the start.”
