Government publishes responses to Port sector Treaty questions on Treaty website - 174/2026

March 16, 2026

The Minister with responsibility for the Port, the Hon Gemma Arias-Vasquez, has confirmed that a detailed set of responses to questions raised by operators within the port sector on the future operation of treaty arrangements has now been uploaded to the Government’s treaty website www.treaty.gov.gi.

The FAQs address a wide range of operational issues raised by ship agents, port operators and maritime service providers, including matters relating to seafarers, immigration arrangements, customs procedures, ship spares, bonded warehousing, crew changes, visa exemptions, goods in transit, vessel reporting requirements and ship supplies.

The same material has also been circulated directly to port operators and relevant industry stakeholders in order to ensure that those working within the sector have direct access to the information and can begin preparing against the detail already agreed.

The publication forms part of the Government’s continuing programme of sector-specific guidance as Gibraltar prepares for the implementation phase of the Treaty.

The Minister with responsibility for the Port, the Hon Gemma Arias-Vasquez, said: “These FAQs respond directly to practical questions raised by the sector and are intended to give operators greater clarity as preparations continue. I am very grateful to the Attorney General and to the Captain of the Port for the work undertaken in preparing this material, which will help ensure that those operating within our port industry have direct access to detailed guidance as implementation approaches.”
