The Government of Gibraltar has today received a letter from Unite the Union, expressing the concerns of SNLAs that were also voiced in this afternoon’s demonstration.
The Minister for Education John Cortes, Minister for Industrial Relations Leslie Bruzon, Chief Secretary Glendon Martinez and Senior Officer for Industrial Relations Fred Martin held an amicable meeting with the Union’s shop stewards and conveners, and recognised the dedication of SNLSAs to the education of Gibraltar’s most vulnerable pupils and the importance of their role.
Whilst the Government maintains its view that the offer put on the table earlier this month was fair and reasonable, it was agreed that further meetings will be held in 2 weeks to continue meaningful engagement on their concerns.
The Government also put forward its position that any changes to pay or terms and conditions would also need to be reflected in revisions to job descriptions and terms of employment.
The Government looks forward to the next scheduled meetings with a view to a reasonable and collaborative conclusion to these matters.
