Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministries for Tourism and Culture, is delighted with the overwhelming success of its prelude to the Gibunco Gibraltar Literary Festival, In Conversation With Sir Mo Farah, and the Charity Run around the Rock.
Britain’s four-time Olympic Gold Medallist Sir Mo Farah, in his capacity as writer and one of the greatest long-distance runners of all time, delivered a spectacular double bill that captivated audiences and allowed for a charity run to raise money for various local charities.
Sir Mo spoke to Thomas Watt about his autobiography and a series of children’s books. He also spoke about his life, career, and his path to athletics success and gold winning performances to a sold-out audience at the Aurora Ballroom, Sunborn Hotel on Friday evening.
The following morning, over 150 runners gathered at Casemates Square to run with Sir Mo Farah. The monies raised will be donated to Research into Childhood Cancer and the Gibraltar Community Association. The atmosphere for both events was electric and a truly unforgettable experience for those in attendance.
Minister for Tourism and Culture, The Hon. Christian Santos GMD MP said: “We are thrilled with the success of Sir Mo Farah’s visit and the joy it brought those in attendance from Gibraltar and abroad. These two events cement Gibraltar’s reputation as a venue for first class experiences. In addition, these prelude events have set the stage beautifully for the upcoming 2026 Gibunco Gibraltar Literary Festival which promises to be another highlight in our cultural calendar.”
