Gibraltar Tourist Board Attends Travel Weekly Globe Awards as First-Time Nominees - 27/2026

January 19, 2026

The Gibraltar Tourist Board attended the Travel Weekly Globe Awards last week as first-time nominees in the category of Best Tourist Board.

The awards are among the most high-profile in the travel industry and are voted for exclusively by UK travel agents and travel advisors. Nominations are based on trade engagement, service delivery, reliability, incentives and overall product appeal throughout the year, with categories spanning cruise, rail, air, tour operation and destination sectors, alongside a number of special industry awards.

This marked Gibraltar’s first nomination in a highly competitive category. While Gibraltar did not win on the night, it was recognised as a significant achievement to be shortlisted alongside major global destinations including Australia, Barbados, Canada, Florida, Greece, Jamaica, Malta, Portugal, Spain and Qatar. The award was won by Jamaica.

Commenting on the nomination, the Minister for Tourism, Christian Santos GMD MP, said:
“We are extremely proud to have been nominated alongside such an impressive list of world-class tourist destinations. Travel agents play a vital role in shaping how destinations are presented to consumers, and achieving recognition in such a competitive global field reflects the effectiveness of the Tourist Board’s marketing strategy in broadening Gibraltar’s brand presence. We look forward to building on this achievement in the future.”
