The Chief Minister, the Hon Fabian Picardo KC MP, has written to Spain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Snr Jose Manuel Albares Bueno and the President of the Partido Popular Snr Alberto Nuñez Feijo to convey the condolences of His Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar on behalf of the people of Gibraltar on the passing of Spain’s former Minister for Foreign Affairs Snr Josep Piqué.

The Chief Minister, the Hon Fabian Picardo KC MP, said: ‘Whilst the people of Gibraltar were profoundly opposed to Snr Piqué’s political views with regards to Gibraltar, we appreciate that he was a diplomat who was internationally respected and was accomplished in both the political and business worlds. Our thoughts are with his family and colleagues as they mourn his passing.’
