Expression of Interest: Commercial Use of Hydrotherapy Pool at St Martin’s School

HM Government of Gibraltar invites Expressions of Interest from qualified individuals, practitioners, or organisations interested in the commercial hire and operation of the hydrotherapy pool at St Martin’s School, Europort Avenue. The facility will be made available after official school hours and out of term-time.

 

Facility Overview

The school houses a modern, specialised hydrotherapy pool designed for therapeutic treatment and exercise. Key features include:

  • Water Temperature: Maintained at a therapeutic 34°C to 35°C to support muscle relaxation and pain reduction.
  • Ambient Temperature: 5 degrees below water temperature
  • Accessibility: Built-in hoisting equipment and level access to ensure full usability for individuals with limited mobility.
  • Atmosphere: Adjustable lighting systems capable of creating either a stimulating or calming environment.
  • Maintenance: The facility is maintained by POOLGIB Ltd, to ensure high safety and hygiene standards.
  • Laboratory Testing: The pool is tested weekly for pathogens in collaboration with the Environmental Agency and GHA Laboratory. This is done in accordance with PWTAG Code of Practice.

 

Scope of Interest

We are seeking proposals for the use of the pool during non-school hours (weekdays after 3:15pm, and during outside term time, for activities such as:

  • Private physiotherapy and rehabilitation sessions.
  • Specialised swimming lessons for children or adults with sensory or physical disabilities.
  • Wellness and aquatic therapy programs.

 

Submission Requirements

Interested parties should submit a formal letter of interest including:

  1. Provider Profile: Details of the individual or organisation, including relevant qualifications and experience in aquatic therapy or pool management.
  2. Proposed Use: A clear outline of the services to be offered and the intended target audience.
  3. Operational Plan: Preferred days/times of use and evidence of required insurance and life-saving certifications (e.g., CPR/Lifeguard).
  4. Financial Proposal: Proposed commercial terms for the hire of the facility considerate of a £50 charge per hour to cover ongoing maintenance and cleaning.
