Juan Carlos Reyes, President of El Salvador’s National Commission of Digital Assets (CNAD), visited Gibraltar this week following the Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry, Nigel Feetham KC MP’s visit to El Salvador earlier this year.
During the visit, Mr Reyes signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission, formalising the working relationship between the two regulators and establishing a framework for enhanced cooperation, communication and information sharing.
Mr Reyes also met with Minister Feetham to discuss opportunities for Gibraltar and El Salvador to strengthen collaboration across digital assets, gaming and prediction markets. The discussions built on the strong relationship established during the Minister’s visit to El Salvador and reflected both jurisdictions’ shared commitment to fostering innovation through robust and forward-looking regulation.
As one of the world’s leading digital asset jurisdictions, El Salvador has developed an internationally recognised regulatory framework. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange views on emerging trends and explore areas of mutual interest as both jurisdictions continue to position themselves at the forefront of digital finance and innovation.
Minister Feetham said: “I was delighted to welcome Juan Carlos Reyes to Gibraltar following my visit to El Salvador earlier this year. The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding marks an important milestone in the relationship between our two jurisdictions and reflects our shared commitment to high regulatory standards, innovation and international cooperation. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Mr Reyes and his team as we deepen our collaboration.”
