HM Government of Gibraltar, following the news of the international law enforcement operation known as Operation Endgame, has temporarily shut down eGov services as a precaution in order for cyber security experts to assess any potential impact.

Operation Endgame is an international law enforcement operation that has led to the seizure of more than 100 servers used as infrastructure for malware dropper botnets. These were being used by cyber criminals in different countries across Europe as a precursor to ransomware or other malware.

HMGoG’s IT&LD Department, Digital Services together with external cyber security experts, have taken eGov offline temporarily to allow for extensive security checks.

The Government apologises for any inconvenience to eGov service users, and aims to restore full service as soon as possible.
