His Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar has announced a strategic restructure within the Gibraltar Health Authority at managerial level, whereby the current Director of Personnel and Development, Nicholas Richardson, will now also take on the responsibilities of the GHA Director of Workforce. This change will come into effect on 4th November 2024.
This restructure aims to standardise Human Resources policies and procedures across the Public Service, in particular, in areas such as Occupational Health, staff wellbeing, and disciplinary matters.
It is important to note that this managerial change will not affect the structure of individual teams within the GHA and the Government’s centralised Department for Personnel and Development. Each team will continue to operate as a distinct workforce, with the main change being a consolidated oversight at management level.
The Minister for Health and Care, the Hon. Gemma Arias-Vasquez, said: "After a year as the Minister for Health and Care, it has become clear to me how important it is to ensure that the GHA’s HR department is run in the same way as the wider Public Service, given the extremely large workforce it is responsible for. By consolidating the responsibilities of the Director of Personnel and Development with those of the GHA Director of Workforce, I believe we can achieve consistency and appropriate oversight across the entire public service.”
