Delegates wanted for UKOTA Youth Summit in London - 42/2025

January 21, 2025

The United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association (UKOTA) will be organising a Youth Summit in London next month.

Gibraltar has again been invited to send two young people aged between 18 and 25 to participate in the event.

The purpose of the Youth Summit is to promote dialogue across the Overseas Territories and empower youth by encouraging debate and innovative thinking.

This year’s theme is Diversity and Inclusion in the Overseas Territories.

The sessions will be chaired by the youth member from the sitting, rotating chair of UKOTA, which is currently the British Virgin Islands.

The Government will fund the cost of two delegates who wish to attend the summit as ambassadors for Gibraltar. The event will take place on 27th February.

Those interested in attending must submit a short essay (maximum 500 words) on Diversity and Inclusion in the Overseas Territories, or specifically in Gibraltar.

The deadline for the essays is Friday 31st January 2025 and these must be sent to commonwealth@gibraltar.gov.gi with the subject line of UKOTA Youth Summit.

The competition is not open to anyone who has already attended the UKOTA Youth Summit before as an official delegate.

The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia said that this was an ideal opportunity for young people from Gibraltar to engage in constructive discussions with their peers from the other Overseas Territories.
