The Chief Minister today spoke with Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK and one of its Members of Parliament.
This exchange followed an interview conducted by Mr Farage with the Chief Minister on Thursday evening on his programme on GB News. Today’s conversation offered an opportunity to speak at a political level, rather than in the context of a media interview.
The Chief Minister outlined the logic behind the proposed UK–EU agreement in respect of Gibraltar, setting out the structure and intent of the agreement in broad terms from Gibraltar’s perspective.
Mr Picardo and Mr Farage agreed to meet in London at an early opportunity to continue their discussions. The Chief Minister will use that occasion to further set out the position of the Government of Gibraltar and explain why this agreement represents the best possible outcome for Gibraltar following the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union.
