February 20, 2026

Author and historian Christopher Lloyd will be hosting an exciting live virtual quiz for schools as part of the 2026 Youth Arts Jamboree. The event, by Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS), on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, and sponsored by the John Mackintosh Educational Trust, will feature during the week of the 23rd to 27th February 2026.
Following the success of his previous online quiz competition in 2021, the event will bring together students from Loreto Convent, Prior Park, Bayside School, Bishop Fitzgerald School, and St Bernard’s Upper Primary for a week of interactive learning and friendly competition.
The quiz will be delivered online, with qualifying heats running over four days from Monday to Thursday, culminating in a Grand Final on Friday 27th February. Students may take part either as individuals or in teams, testing their knowledge across a wide range of subjects.
This year’s competition will be based on Christopher Lloyd’s ‘Absolutely Everything’ book and incorporate the Britannica All New Children’s Encyclopedia, designed to spark curiosity, encourage broad, cross-curricular learning and fun with their peers! The quiz offers students an opportunity to learn, compete and connect with knowledge in an engaging and memorable way.
Each participating school will be gifted a copy of the encyclopedia, giving students the opportunity to study and prepare ahead of the heats. There are prizes to be won, with the overall winner receiving £250, and a further £750 awarded to their school.
