Christian Hook visits Schools as part of the Youth Arts Jamboree - 192/2026

March 19, 2026

As part of the Youth Arts Jamboree, Gibraltar Cultural Services was proud to host Christian Hook, one of Gibraltar’s most significant artistic voices of his generation. The artist was invited to talk to pupils about his career, past, present and future, whilst showcasing his portfolio of work.

Mr Hook attended Westside school to meet with A-level students from both comprehensives, where he spoke about taking opportunities and risks and enjoying the process in terms of creativity and career trajectories. He explained that there are two art worlds, the commercial and his own creative realm where he can explore and experiment. His talk left the students with much food for thought and reflection.

The artist also hosted a theatre session for over 250 local pupils in years 5 and 6. He demonstrated his portfolio of work which included his illustrations for hundreds of books. These included work for the National Trust, Museums, for books on history, Formula 1, and others. Mr Hook shared many anecdotes and stories about his career and students had the opportunity to ask questions and view his work up close. The session left the young people feeling inspired and motivated to create without boundaries.
