Due to ongoing works to prepare for Treaty implementation, an alternative pedestrian route will be put in place this weekend at the frontier via the vehicle exit to Spain. This route will be used for pedestrians in both directions to and from Spain on Friday and Saturday nights, from 9pm to 7am. During these times, vehicles will continue to enter and exit Gibraltar via Eastgate.
Also over the weekend, the daytime vehicle entrance into Gibraltar will be reduced to one lane due to scaffolding that must remain in place to allow for the removal of the canopy. This may cause some delays at peak times for vehicles entering Gibraltar. These works will be finished by Sunday night and both lanes will be open in time for Monday morning traffic into Gibraltar.
Both Gibraltar and Spanish authorities at the frontier have agreed to minimise any queues as far as possible. The Government apologises for any inconvenience during these essential infrastructure works as we prepare to implement the Treaty.
