Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS), on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, and in conjunction with the Gibraltar Philharmonic Society, is pleased to confirm details of this year’s Celebration of Opera. The concert will take place on Tuesday 9th June 2026 at Holy Trinity Cathedral, commencing at 8:00pm.
This year’s programme features three incredible artists at the height of their careers.
Dmytro Popov is an internationally acclaimed tenor and Operalia prize winner. He rose to prominence at The Royal Opera House and has since appeared regularly at the Metropolitan Opera, where he is recognized for his expressive timbre and compelling dramatic presence.
Julia Novikova is an internationally celebrated soprano and first prize winner of the Operalia Competition. She gained global recognition for her acclaimed portrayal of Gilda in Rigoletto, broadcast worldwide, and is admired for her vocal brilliance, precision and elegant stage presence.
Guillermo García Calvo is a pianist and conductor of exceptional standing, with an extensive international career spanning the Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Opéra de Paris. His work has received major international recognition, including the Faust Prize for Best Opera Production in Germany.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Holy Trinity Cathedral, this promises to be a night of extraordinary artistry, elegance, and atmosphere, an event not to be missed.

Tenor Dmytro Popov and soprano Julia Novikova, top artists from the most distinguished international opera houses, together with world-class pianist and conductor Guillermo García Calvo, will be delighting us with a truly varied and exciting programme of opera and song for all tastes.”
