The Ministry of Transport is pleased to announce the great progress that has been made with regards to the new requirements for Food Delivery Drivers.
In May 2025, these requirements were announced as part of a three-phased approach. Phase 1, effective from 1st September 2025, required Food Delivery Drivers to have:
A Delivery Driver Card (photo ID and employment contract required)
A uniform clearly showing the company they work for
A delivery box clearly showing the company they work for
A unique company driver number on the uniform
Ministry staff and the Customer Care Hub have worked closely with all food delivery companies, assisting and advising on how to meet these legal requirements.
To date, over 100 Delivery Driver Cards have been issued, with the vast majority of drivers and vehicles now displaying the appropriate logos.
Enforcement will continue through an “information and spot-check” approach, with regular checks to ensure ongoing compliance.
Minister for Transport, Prof John Cortes, said:
“These changes are important in properly regulating what has, over recent years, become an important industry in Gibraltar. We need to be grateful to the delivery companies for their cooperation and their willingness to improve standards all round.”
