Legislation Support Unit
40 Town Range
The Legislation Support Unit [LSU] works with ministers and government departmental officials and is responsible for drafting most domestic, international and EU legislation, which is subsequently passed by Parliament.
The unit also functions as a dissemination centre for all EU directives, consultation documents, etc. and helps government departments and the general public with advice and information on all Gibraltar’s legislation.
The Gibraltar Gazette and its supplements are also the responsibility of the department. This official mouthpiece contains all government notices, government appointments, bills, ordinances, legal notices, etc.
The latest responsibility of the department, in co-operation with the “Information Technology and Logistics Department”, is the production and maintenance of the Laws of Gibraltar Website. The LSU electronically publishes all legislation currently in force in Gibraltar and updates it on a weekly basis, providing legal practitioners and the general public with an invaluable legal resource.
