There are currently a total of 7 EU Programmes that are in operation in Gibraltar.
These Programmes are funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Government of Gibraltar. Private Sector funds are also an integral part of the programmes.
In 1999 Gibraltar was designated as an Objective 2 area for the Programme period 2000-2006. This represented a continuation of earlier Objective 2 Programmes in 1994-96 and 1997-99.
The Interreg IIIA Programme is a trans-frontier Programme which aims to develop cross border co-operation between Gibraltar and Morocco. The 2000-2006 Programme follows-on from the 1994-99 Interreg IIA Programme.
The participating Member States are Spain (Andalucia, Murcia, C Valenciana, Cataluna, Baleares, Aragon, Ceuta, Melilla), France (Languedoc-Roussillon, PACA, Rhone-Alpes, Corse), Italy (Piemonte, Lombarida, Liguria, Toscana, Umbria, Lazio, Campania, Sardegna, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicilia, Valle d’Aosta, Emilia-Romagna), Portugal and the United Kingdom (Gibraltar).
The participating Member States are Spain, France (Aquitaine, Auvegne, Languedoc-Roussilon, Limousin, Midi-Pyrenes and Potiou Charentes), Portugal and the United Kingdom (Gibraltar).
